Batman: The Killing Joke influenced Batman

Tim Burton has said Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's The Killing Joke was the comic that won him over to Batman, and his Joker follows its origin: a criminal who falls into a vat of chemicals at a plant, emerges with bleached skin and a fixed grin, and sees himself and Batman as each other's creation.
