The Wire influenced Gomorra: La serie (Gomorrah)

Stefano Sollima and the writers have cited The Wire as the model for how to film organised crime as a system rather than a story about a boss. Both shows do the same specific things: the corner is a workplace with shifts and juniors, the institution outlives every character, and there is no protagonist the audience is meant to be safe with. Gomorrah goes further in one way, refusing the police point of view almost entirely.
