History influenced Delhi Crime Story

The first season reconstructs the investigation into the gang rape and murder of a young woman on a Delhi bus in December 2012, and the protests that followed and changed Indian law. Richie Mehta worked from the Delhi Police case files and from interviews with the officers who ran it, and the series is built around the procedural detail: the tracing of the bus, the arrests across several states in five days, and the conditions the investigating team worked in. The choice that defines it is what it leaves out. The assault is never shown, and the victim is barely on screen, so the series is about the institution and the city rather than about the crime.
