Sir Gawain and the Green Knight influenced The Green Knight

David Lowery's film adapts the fourteenth-century poem: the Green Knight's beheading game at Arthur's court, Gawain's journey a year later to receive the return blow, and the temptations at the castle of Bertilak and his lady. It rewrites the ending into a vision of the life Gawain would lead if he fled.
