Randal Kleiser's film adapts Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's musical about the summer romance of the greaser Danny Zuko and the new girl Sandy at Rydell High in the 1950s. It moves the story from Chicago to California and adds songs written for the film, including "You're the One That I Want".
