Phyllida Lloyd's 2008 film adapts the stage musical she had directed since its 1999 London premiere, with Catherine Johnson's book and the ABBA songs by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Meryl Streep plays Donna, and the plot is the musical's: a daughter invites the three men who could be her father to her wedding on a Greek island.
