AdaptationHIGH

Eric Kripke's series adapts Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic about a group of vigilantes led by Billy Butcher who hunt corrupt superheroes owned by the corporation Vought. It keeps the premise and the characters, and tones down much of the comic's violence and shock value.

About the work

The Boys

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, a group of vigilantes known informally as "The Boys" set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. Based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals, referred to as "Supes", who often abuse their powers for personal gain and work for a powerful company, Vought International, that ensures the general public views them as heroes. The story focuses on Hughie Campbell, a young electronics clerk, and Billy Butcher, a former SAS and CIA operative, who work together with the rest of the Boys against "The Seven", Vought's premier superhero team, led by the power-hungry Homelander.
