Le Morte d'Arthur influenced The Once and Future King

White's sequence is a retelling of Malory from the boyhood of Arthur to the last night before the final battle. He names Le Morte d'Arthur in his own text and brings Malory himself on as a character at the end, as the boy Arthur sends away to carry the story on.
