AdaptationHIGH

CD Projekt's game is a licensed continuation of Sapkowski's novels, not a retelling of them: it takes the books' Geralt, their Northern Kingdoms, their monsters and their politics, and picks up after the saga ends. What comes straight from the page: Geralt himself and the witcher trade (the mutations, the signs, the two swords, the contracts), Triss, Dandelion, Zoltan and the rest of the recurring cast, the Scoia'tael and the racial politics of the Kingdoms, and the moral design that made the books unusual, where a contract has no clean answer and choosing badly is the point. Filed HIGH: the game is not a story of its own dressed in Sapkowski's furniture, it is his world continued with his permission and most of its content sourced from the text.
